Domain Abuse Policy
At SteelPlow Domains, we take the security, integrity, and safety of the internet very seriously. As a domain reseller, we do not directly host content, but we are committed to investigating and addressing valid reports of abuse involving domains registered through our services.
This policy outlines what constitutes abuse, how to submit a report, and how we handle complaints.
1. Types of Abuse We Investigate
We accept and investigate reports for the following types of malicious or illegal activity involving our registered domains:
Phishing / Identity Theft: Websites designed to trick users into revealing sensitive information (e.g., passwords, credit card numbers).
Malware Distribution: Hosting or distributing viruses, spyware, ransomware, or other malicious software.
Spam / Unsolicited Bulk Email: Sending unauthorized commercial emails or using our domains to mask spam campaigns.
Intellectual Property / Trademark Infringement: Unauthorized use of copyrighted material or registered trademarks.
Illegal Content: Explicitly illegal activities, including but not limited to child exploitation, human trafficking, or selling illegal substances.
Network Attacks: Using a domain to coordinate DDoS attacks, hacking attempts, or port scanning.
2. What You Must Include in Your Report
To help us investigate and take action quickly, all abuse complaints must include the following information. Incomplete reports may delay or prevent our investigation.
The Target Domain Name: The specific domain name involved in the abuse (e.g., example.com).
Type of Abuse: Select one of the categories listed in Section 1.
Evidence of Abuse:
For Phishing/Malware/Illegal Content: Provide the specific URLs and screenshots of the offending content.
For Spam: Provide the full, unedited email headers of the spam email.
For Trademark Infringement: Provide your trademark registration details and the specific links where the infringement occurs.
Your Contact Information: Your name, organization (if applicable), and a valid email address so we can follow up or request further details.
Digital Signature: A statement confirming that the information in your report is accurate to the best of your knowledge, under penalty of perjury (required for legal and trademark complaints).
3. How to Submit Your Complaint
You can report abuse to our compliance team through the following channels:
By Email: Send your complete report to domainabuse@steelplow.net
Note: For urgent matters involving imminent physical harm, public safety, or severe illegal activity, please contact local law enforcement authorities immediately in addition to notifying us.
4. What Happens Next (Our Process)
Once a report is submitted, our compliance team follows a strict protocol:
Acknowledgment: You will receive an confirmation email tracking your complaint.
Review & Verification: Our team will review the provided evidence to verify if the activity violates our Terms of Service or applicable internet regulations.
Action: If verified, we will take appropriate action. Because we are a reseller, this often involves contacting the end-user (registrant) to remedy the issue, or escalating the matter to our primary registrar partner to suspend, lock, or cancel the domain registration.
Privacy: We respect privacy rights. Your personal data will only be shared with third parties (like law enforcement or our primary registrar) if legally required or strictly necessary to resolve the abuse.
